Meeting room panel

BusinessConcept, not built

Idea“A panel outside each meeting room that shows if it's free and lets people book it with one tap.”

It shows whether a meeting room is free, and books it with one tap on the screen. It hangs on a slim wall plate outside the room, with one USB-C cable running through the plate into the wall.

See it come apart

One turn around the design, while its parts move apart and go back together. Rendered from the design files, like the 3D view above. It isn't footage of a real unit.

What isn't done yet

  • The 7-inch display is a placeholder, and the booking screen shown is a picture of it.
  • It has no Power over Ethernet, so it needs a USB-C cable in the wall.
  • Its metal frame may block the radio, and that hasn't been tested.
  • The hook that holds it on the wall plate isn't designed yet.
  • No firmware has been written for it, and no unit has been built.

Inside it

The same panel pulled apart along its thickness: cover glass, lit display, aluminium frame, computer and driver board, the circuit board with two glowing light guides, a graphite rear cover and the wall plate.
The product pulled apart, with its real routed circuit board inside.
Its black rectangular circuit board with a large window cut through it, a row of six LEDs along each side arm, a silver radio module at one corner and a USB-C socket on the far edge.
The circuit board our engines placed, routed and checked.
